Fall Painted Pillows

I whipped up some little pillow covers from old painters drop cloths I bought when we redid our floors a couple years ago. I love using these for pillow covers! Cheap, they take paint well and they are neutral!
I loved the spring ones I did a couple years ago so I decided to do some fall themed ones.
Here are some pics of a couple

There's one more that still needs it's opening stitched closed and then I will share it too.

Feathers!

Ya know how sometimes one project leads into another project and another project and another??? That happens to me A LOT! One idea sparks another and it snowballs out of control. Recently I decided to redo an earlier project for a better outcome. Mid-fix I had an idea and began on it right away. And before you know it the mess spirals out of control.

And that leads into a moment in my life that still makes me chuckle, weeks later! It was a lazy Sunday afternoon when I had my crafting frenzy and my original plan for the day was significantly derailed by the creative flow. It began with painting and moved on to pillows and then on to a project I will share in a second. The sun was shining thru the window and highlighted the feathers floating softly thru the air when the doorbell rang. I answered the door I kid  you not in a bright pink sports bra and black compression leggings, bare feet, feathers in my hair and all over me but more importantly I had feathers GLUED to my hands. Yes, glued! The man at the door tried to hand me a pamphlet for his candidate but the look on his face as I opened the door and took it in that condition was absolutely priceless. I so wished I could have captured it. I shut the door and laughed like a crazy woman as I walked thru my house trailing feathers! Seriously people this is my life.

And without further lead up I will share my project of the day and the reason why I was covered in glue and feathers!
This fluffy, dreamy little wreath started out as an old feather pillow and a pool noodle! No joking! Now it lives happily, occasionally dropping feathers on the floor in my entryway.

Crafting Day Chaos

Any other crafters lose complete control of the mess when you are in the zone? This mess was once my dining room. Before it was attacked by feathers. It was pillow making day. I'll share pics of the finished ones later!

*Not A Sponsored Post*

Ok y'all know that all 4 of you who read my blog are not sponsoring me(unless you count my husband, lol) so there is no affiliation here. I wish companies would pay me to buy cute stuff for myself in their stores just as long as I told people about it!
Moving on, anyway, I was shopping with Husband Darling in Colombus while we were up there for the Country Living Fair at this fabulous little Town Center style mall and popped into a Crate and Barrel. The closest one to us is up on the other side of Cincinnati so it is a treat to get to actually shop in the store vs perusing the online catalog. I fell for these adorably silly little salad plates the second we walked in and just had to buy at least one. So this is the one I chose
Freakin' outrageously cute, right?????? I put it on the shelf in the dining room over the bar stuff

I like it, what can I say, I am easy to please. IF Crate and Barrel were sponsoring this post I would have the whole dang set and I would be directing you to go check them out and get your own. Which I am not because I want to be the only one with this little cutie pie!

Scary Turkeys: Country Living Fair #4

Hey y'all,
I am super lucky to be married to a fabulous guy. A big strong guy. My big strong guy who was totally freaked out by this weird little statue we saw at the CL Fair! We saw this thing on Saturday and he was HAUNTED all night by it and insisted on going back to photograph it's disturbing-ness(yes, I make up words when I need to)
So here is the scary turkey:
If I understood his mumbled babbling correctly it was the difference in size of the child to the turkey and the fact that this is a Thanksgiving decoration where people eat turkeys! So in his words, "what is this saying???? That small children cuddle giant turkeys before they eat them? Or that the turkey may gobble the child up?" Ok, I am paraphrasing loosely because honestly I was giggling to much to hear him completely.
Here's a better view f this horrid thing
Aaaaaaaaaaaand my favorite one

Seriously, look at that face!!

Thanks honey, for being a good sport about your turkey fears and for being my favorite person in the whole world!!

Spray Paint It!

Ok, I am LOVING the metallic tend for fall this year. I have bought oh...like 8 cans of metallic spray paint in the last month! Nothing in my house is safe from getting a coat of gold or silver these days. I used my handy dandy cans to make a centerpiece for fall in the living room on the new glass table.

The leaf tray used to be a distressed green and that skull is just an ugly plastic white skull I bought at the dollar store a week or so ago. All set for fall in the living room without having to change my monochromatic color scheme in there! oh yeah!

They Call Me ...........The Queen Of Spray Paint!!

Just a little quickie change in the family room. Last summer I got these two free little lamps while at the local baseball game, they give away all kinds of things! But when I opened the boxes the bases were cracked. I was so disappointed because in this house full of boys I have a ton of lamps that used to be pairs but one was broken by a flying ball, sock or child. Plenty with glue lines around them too but I decided to try and fix them anyway, after all they were free. But once I glued them the break was super obvious so I spray painted them gold last fall and kept the cream square shades they came with.

Skip to now, I was feeling sick of them so I picked up some little burlap shades and gave the bases  a new color. I think it was a good freshen up for them to get just a little more mileage out of them!

what do you think? What have you spray painted lately?

Fall Outdoor Decor:Trick or Treat

So I just started decorating outside and it is a work in progress but I couldn't wait to share this little sign I painted the other ay. I admit to getting the idea on Pinterest and I will admit to a tiny detail fail once I show it to you, lol. Sometimes when I am crafting I just get excited and g to fast, anyone else have this problem?

ok, cute right?? But do you see my fail????

well? I forgot the word DAYS!!!!!!! Good grief! And what's worse is it took my kid to point it out and then he made fun of me because I was so happy with how it turned out! Little stinker! So I went back with my chalk marker and added it in,lol

Fall Decorating Has Begun:Fall Tablescape #1

Here on Clover Ridge I am feeling the fall in the air. Maybe it was the chilly 40 degree weather the other morning or the carry over inspiration from our trip to Colomus but I have some little pretties to show you!

I have been working on a few projects and slowly bringing up the buckets and buckets of fall decor...it's like mini Christmas decorating but add to it the usual fall intensive cleaning and some weatherizing in preparation for coming winter weather. I stumbled across some fabulous things on Pinterest and I was inspired with a color palette of " golden yellow, orangey red, grass green and teal blue and grey " a quote from my laptop's post it notes that I jot decorating ideas on.. it also said something about ditching the scarecrows and focusing on newsprint leaves and feathers, feathers and more feathers! I love this color scheme and these little painted feathers that I used a tutorial I found on Pinterest for are so fun! These are my regular everyday dishes and just chargers I had. I picked up 1 yd of this beautiful blue and green fabric and 1 yd of the zigzag grey for napkins and stitched up 6 really quick while I was stitching up some pillows the other day(I'll share those soon!) Easy, simple and pretty, just the way I like it!

Country Living Fair Part 3

I was so inspired by the beautiful sights and smells of fall at the CL fair I just had to share some of my favorite ones.
giant gourd mound anyone?

this guy is ALWAYS one of my favorite sights!

rows and rows of booths full of beautiful things!

1 of 2 adorable photo spot locations..they were actually selling pumpkins here..so cute

I bought a lot of little things in this booth....both days!

Country Living Fair Part 2

So much to see and do at the fair. I stumbled across a fabulous little kitchen scale but  just didn't want to pay asking price but when I went to talk to the booth operator I was surprised to discover it was Cari Cuckseyfrom Cash and Cari on HGTV and DIY network. I watch her show all the time! I was feeling a bit intimidated about bargaining with her for this piece but Husband Darling encouraged me to just go talk to her. I asked her about the piece and the conversation went something like this

Me: I saw a little scale up front but it looks like you have had it for a while, the price tag is all faded out. It's marked forty but what's your best price?

Cari: It's marked 40$? How about 35?

Me: How about 25?

Cari: split it with me, I'll do 30$

Me:27$?

Cari:28$

Me: hmmmm I don't know, maybe I need to think about it for a minute......

Cari: okay fine 27$ I can't let you walk away over a dollar or two!

Me: great! Thanks!

Then I mentioned it must be the loyal viewer discount, with a wink and Cari said, "you can tell your friends you got to dicker with me!"

Husband insisted I ask if she would take a picture with me and at first I was to shy but he said I had to do it "for the blog" so I asked and she was so gracious. She didn't hesitate, just put down her drink and posed for not 1 but 3 shots. She was lovely, genuine and sweet. I have met a couple celebrities while working at the bank in Orlando years ago but many were enamored with their own celebrity. Cari was very patient and kind to me. We had the opportunity to see her presentation the next day at the Main Sage and ask a few questions. And I love my little scale! I gave it a bit of a wash down and I am going to give it a few coats of matte sealer in case it has lead paint and use it to hold fruit in the kitchen :) I will add a photo of it to the post when I get it sealed and in place.

Country Living Fair

I am so excited to tell you about my weekend! My sweet husband took me to the Country Living Fair in Columbus. I have wanted to go for a couple years but it is close to our youngest child's birthday and it never seems to work out. But this year we made it work!

I was blown away by all the vendors, it was huge and so much of it was right in line with my style. I had a blast checking out the demos an perusing the booths and OMG the food!!!!! I thought it would be typical fair food. Fries and sandwiches but it was so much more! I had decadent carrot cake and fried artichokes and... well let's not talk about the volume of carbs and calories available to consume or more specifically how many of them I consumed!!! But you could genuinely eat your way thru the whole weekend and never have the same treat twice!
